Assessing Risk

The purpose of the Risk Assessment (RA) is to identify the potential threats to the environment in question and evaluate the value of the assets that would be involved if an event occurred.

The critical questions to answer are...

  • Are there safeguards that we could implement to reduce our risks?

  • What are the site specific threats to our business?

  • Where are we exposed?

The Risk Assessment typically includes a separate management report that can be used to identify and mitigate potential risk exposures, assist executive management with cost/benefit analysis, and focus the upcoming Plan Development effort on the most likely disaster events.
